It was awfully gracious of you to print the Puzzler elsewhere on Dec. 28. So gracious, in fact, that I am reluctant to complain of its execution. But I will steel myself. How, pray, did you expect those of us with less-than-perfect eyesight or not possessed of a magnifying glass to read it all squeezed into the minuscule spot you begrudgingly allotted it in the Book Review? Surely another column’s width would not have severely discommoded The Times, and it would have saved many of us a painful bout with eyestrain. Do be a tad more considerate of your faithful readers in the future, won’t you?
