Patrik Sjoberg of Sweden set a world indoor record Sunday for the men’s high jump, clearing 7-10 3/4 at an international indoor track and field meet at Piraeus, Greece.
Sjoberg, 22, who won a silver medal in the high jump at the 1984 Olympics, established the mark on his second attempt.
The previous world record of 7-10 1/2 was set in January by Carlo Thranhardt of West Germany.
“I wasn’t expecting today’s record,” Sjoberg said. “Everything was perfect, I was feeling very good.”
