PORT STANLEY, Falkland Islands — Farmer Tony Felton didn’t hesitate when foxes started killing his lambs on Beaver Island, one of the wind-swept Falkland Islands. He called in the experts.
As a result, snipers from the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders Regiment took time off from their duties and spent a weekend shooting foxes. Using sniper rifles and infrared night sights, a team of four killed 30 foxes during a night stakeout.
Felton said he was pleased because he had lost 500 lambs to the foxes this season.
