Maywood : Store Denied Beer Permit
Overturning a Planning Commission recommendation, the Maywood City Council has voted 4-1 to deny a conditional-use permit for the sale of beer and wine at a Cudahy Avenue grocery store.
A city staff report found that 50 crimes, including robbery and public drunkenness, occurred in the vicinity of the store during the months of November and December. The staff also made a finding that the immediate area has a proliferation of liquor outlets. Within 1,000 feet of the store, there are two liquor stores, two bars, two convenience markets and a grocery store.
