Not Prepared

I recently participated in interviewing job applicants for work as a physical sciences laboratory technician.
The outstanding candidate was from Taiwan. Other good applicants came from the Philippines, India, Hong Kong, and Mexico. No one who had received a basic education in the United States was able to pass the written examination.
It is a good thing that Americans do not have to compete with the rest of the world. We are not prepared.
