Chicago Labor Federation Backs Mayor Washington

CHICAGO — Delegates of the Chicago Federation of Labor have voted to endorse Mayor Harold Washington for reelection despite a decision by the federation’s governing board to remain neutral in the Democratic primary. The vote Tuesday night to back the city’s first black mayor was 231 to 115, one vote more than the two-thirds required for endorsement.
