Paralyzed Man Who Won Court’s OK for Fast Dies

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. — A paralyzed man who sought to die and won a court’s permission to refuse food and water died Friday in the 16th day of his fast.
“I do not want to suffer anymore,” Hector Rodas, 34, repeatedly told family, friends and court officials.
Rodas, almost totally paralyzed because of drug abuse, had been unable to swallow, so food and water had had to be administered through a feeding tube in his stomach.
