The commander of the Pacific Fleet, after a 52-year-old colleague suffered a fatal heart attack while running, eased fitness standards for sailors over 45. Officials at the Atlantic Fleet, based in Norfolk, Va., said they also will restudy the regulations. Under the rules adopted by Pacific Fleet Adm. James (Ace) Lyons Jr., in place of a 1 1/2-mile run, men between 45 and 49 will have to complete a three-mile walk in 45 minutes, 34 seconds, and women will have 48 minutes, 55 seconds. Men 50 and older will have 48 minutes, 19 seconds to complete the walk; women will have 52 minutes, 2 seconds.
