With so much to avoid in the “vast wasteland” of violence, venality and vacuousness, it was a pure joy to watch “Walking on Air,” the season opener of “Wonderworks” on PBS. In merely 60 minutes of believable fantasy, I was literally “transported” by the heartwarming screenplay and low-key direction of young Jordan Marder and multitalented Lynn Redgrave--plus sets, costumes, score, the works! If Emmy nominations really count these days, here’s a real contender for ’87.
