Fire destroyed a home on Reading Street Saturday, leaving a family of five homeless, authorities said.
The fire erupted about 4 p.m. in a bedroom of the house and spread quickly before firefighters from a nearby station arrived and extinguished the flames in about 15 minutes.
Fire Department Capt. Keith Osborn said the house is located in the 9800 block of Reading Street, about five doors from the station.
Eighteen firefighters fought the blaze, and no cause has been determined, Osborn said.
He estimated damage at $80,000. Officials with the American Red Cross chapter in Orange County said the organization will provide lodging, food and clothing for the family. Red Cross spokeswoman Sylvia Fanton declined to identify the family.
