Striking bus drivers and mechanics in Columbus, Ohio, must go back to work, a judge ruled, bringing at least a temporary end to a two-month walkout affecting 90,000 riders. Transport Workers Union Local 208 was ordered to return its 630 members to work for three days beginning Tuesday while the State Employment Relations Board decides whether the strike has affected the health and safety of people who rely on public transportation. The board could extend the work order for 60 days. In his ruling, Franklin County Common Pleas Judge Frederick Williams called the strike “a clear and present danger” to the elderly, physically impaired and the economically disadvantaged.
