A Riverside County fire that destroyed four homes, a garage and burned 280 acres of brush near Lake Elsinore was contained after two days, officials said. Firefighters from Los Angeles, Riverside and Orange counties joined crews from the California Department of Forestry and the U.S. Forest Service throughout the weekend to control and extinguish the blaze, which started near the lake waterfront. The fire burned to the top of a mountain and progressed northwest, firefighters said. Investigators had not determined the cause of the fire, which destroyed an estimated $450,000 in property. There were no injuries.
