About 150 people attending services at a Koreatown church were forced to evacuate the building when fire broke out in the attic, authorities said. The fire filled the three-story World Mission Church, 927 S. Menlo Ave., with smoke, routing those inside, Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Greg Acevedo said. More than 30 firefighters called out to battle the blaze were able to quickly douse the flames, limiting damage to $25,000. “The fire never got beyond the attic,” Acevedo said, adding that most of the 150 people attending services had been safely evacuated before firefighters arrived.
