USIU Opens Softball Season With 2 Wins

United States International University opened its women’s softball season with a 6-0, 2-1 sweep of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo Sunday at USIU.
Adrenne Mason drove in four runs in the first game with two two-run singles and Terry Esquivel (1-0) scattered seven hits for the victory.
In the second game, Tara Ryan drove in a run with a single in the third inning and came around to score what proved to be the winning run on a wild pitch. Robin Krall (1-0) pitched a three-hitter.
Michelle Gardiner had three of the seven first-game hits for Cal Poly SLO (2-2).
