Kansas City-based United Telecommunications Inc. posted a big jump in profit for 1986, compared to a year earlier. Also, 1985 results included a non-recurring charge of $1.87 per share related to the formation of US Sprint, a partnership that combined United Telecom’s long-distance and data communications businesses with those of GTE.
