Some residents of Georgia’s all-white Forsyth County told black entertainer Oprah Winfrey during her syndicated talk show broadcast from a Cumming, Ga., restaurant that they took part in the massive civil rights march there last month. But one person said march organizers wanted to “come up here and cause trouble.” The Rev. Hosea Williams, a march organizer, and seven other black activists were arrested outside during a protest against Winfrey’s decision to limit participants to county residents. Williams could have been released from jail later, but refused and began a hunger strike to last until all charges are dropped.
