Loma Linda Hospital plans to reduce its work force.

In a move to cut costs in the face of shrinking revenue, San Bernardino County’s largest hospital says it will lay off 600 people, or 15% of its 4,000-person work force, by July 1 to reduce costs by $12 million to $18 million a year. The layoffs, which begin next month, were blamed on recent reductions in Medicare reimbursements and other government payments.
