KUWAIT — The government of Kuwait has launched a campaign to educate people about the billion-dollar annual cost of vandalism and other damage to public property, newspapers reported Wednesday.
Interior Ministry official Col. Abdul Mahjeed Khoraibet, quoted by the papers, said the total cost of damage to public property exceeded $1.06 billion in 1985.
He was addressing a meeting of the Consultants Committee for the Public Awareness Project Against Damage to Public Utilities. The papers said the campaign would last until April next year but gave no details.
