Community College Basketball : Rustlers Clinch Conference Title

The Golden West College women’s basketball team clinched its first South Coast Conference championship with a 97-47 victory over Long Beach City Friday at Huntington Beach.
The Rustlers’ April Marion led all scorers with 25 points. All five Golden West starters scored in double figures.
It was the 12th consecutive victory for The Rustlers (12-0, 29-1), who are ranked first in Southern California and second in the state. The conference title is the Rustlers first championship since they won the Southern California Conference in 1983. Jeannine Battaglia scored 19 for the Rustlers, and Kim Takayama and Stacy Barnes each added 13.
Misty Spilotro led the Vikings (2-10, 6-19) with 20 points.
In the Orange Empire Conference:
Orange Coast 66, Saddleback 41--Lisa Schumaker scored 25 points to lead the Pirates (4-4, 14-15) at OCC. Saddleback (0-8 in conference) played with only five players. Dina Graham had 15 for the Gauchos.
Cypress 60, Rancho Santiago 46--Karen Caires scored 16 points for the Chargers (7-1) at Santa Ana.
