Memorial Services to Be Held Saturday for Frances B. Murphy

Memorial services for Frances B. Murphy, veteran Orange County Board of Education trustee, will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Garden Grove United Church of Christ, 9621 Bixby Ave.
The family suggests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the charity of the donor’s choice or to the Garden Grove Salvation Army.
Mrs. Murphy, 66, who served on the county Board of Education for almost nine years, died of a heart attack Friday shortly after arriving in West Germany. A resident of Garden Grove, she was in Dusseldorf to make arrangements for Western European teachers to spend summer vacation in America as part of the American Host Foundation program, which she and her husband, Thomas, founded.
Private cremation ceremonies were held in Dusseldorf.
The Orange County Board of Education will meet briefly on Feb. 26 as scheduled, and will call a special meeting later to discuss whether to appoint an interim board member or call a special election.
