SDSU Takes Streak Against Wyoming

San Diego State, in the midst of a school-record 16-game losing streak, faces Wyoming, winners of nine straight, tonight in a Western Athletic Conference basketball game at Laramie, Wyo.

The Aztecs (0-12, 2-22) play a Wyoming team that is in the midst of its longest winning streak in 35 years. Wyoming (10-2, 18-6) leads the WAC by a half-game over Texas El Paso.

It will be SDSU’s final regular-season road game. The Aztecs have three home games left, including Saturday night against Hawaii.

SDSU has won only one of eight previous meetings between the teams in Wyoming’s Arena Auditorium. That Aztec victory came in 1983. Wyoming defeated the Aztecs in the San Diego Sports Arena, 79-70, this season. The Cowboys shots 77% from the field in the first half to build a 49-32 lead.

Fennis Dembo, Wyoming’s eighth-leading career scorer, leads the Cowboys with a 19.6 scoring average. Eric Leckner averages 17 points per game.

The Aztecs are led by freshman guard Tony Ross (17.2) and sophomore guard Josh Lowery (11.7).
