UC Irvine Rolls Past USIU With 8-Run 7th

SAN DIEGO — UC Irvine scored eight runs in the seventh inning and defeated United States International University, 11-6, Wednesday in a nonconference baseball game.
A walk, a single and a fielder’s choice loaded the bases with nobody out for UC Irvine in the seventh inning. Second baseman Joe Oberdank followed with a two-run double to give the Anteaters the lead for good at 5-4. Oberdank’s double was followed by five consecutive singles.
Oberdank went 3 for 5 with three RBIs, and designated hitter Mike Fay went 4 for 5 with one RBI to lead UC Irvine (5-7). Bob Esquerra went 2 for 4 with one RBI to pace USIU (5-6).
