The Valley College women’s basketball team is the only community college team from the Valley area to secure a playoff berth.
Valley (21-4, 9-1 in the Southern California Conference) can finish no worse than second in conference. The Monarchs, ranked fifth in the state, would share the conference title with Trade-Tech by defeating Chaffey on Friday.
Valley could get credit for two wins on Friday pending the results of a conference ruling on last week’s scheduled game with Mt. San Jacinto at Valley.
Mt. San Jacinto failed to show for the game, which would result in a forfeit victory for Valley unless transportation problems or weather prevented the visitors from making it to Van Nuys.
Valley figures to enter the playoffs seeded either second or third, which means the Monarchs would play at home in the first round.
