Glendora 64, Thousand Oaks 36--Glendora forwards Tracy Murray and Matt Ipsen combined for 41 points, more than the entire Thousand Oaks team, as the Tartans breezed at Glendora. Ipsen, a 6-3 senior, scored 18 points, 14 in the second half. He also made 8 of 8 free throws. But the game belonged to Murray.
The 6-5 sophomore had game-high totals of 23 points, 12 rebounds and 4 steals. Murray received a standing ovation from the crowd when he left the game with 1:22 remaining.
“They’ve never done that,” Murray said of the crowd. Murray this season set school records for points in a game and points in a season.
Thousand Oaks (13-10) trailed the entire game and was never in striking distance. Glendora (19-7) jumped to a 14-3 lead and stretched it to 32-14 at halftime.
“We shot poorly and we rebounded poorly,” Thousand Oaks Coach Ed Chevalier said. “And Glendora did both of those things well. They were the better team tonight.”
Junior Kevin Martin led Thousand Oaks with 12 points and John Schlossman added seven. Thousand Oaks center Jon Walker scored only six points.
