Women’s Basketball Roundup : Oregon Cuts UCLA String at 6 With 77-57 Win

Oregon ended UCLA’s six-game winning streak Saturday night by defeating the Bruins, 77-57, in a one-sided Pacific 10 women’s basketball game at McArthur Court in Eugene, Oregon.
Oregon outscored UCLA, 13-2, in the first five minutes and led, 36-30, at halftime. It was the ninth win in a row for the Ducks (19-5, 11-3). UCLA is 17-8 and 10-5.
Lauri Landerholm had 20 points, and Stephanie Kasperski had 18 for Oregon, which made 23 of 35 free throws to UCLA’s 7 of 12. The Bruins’ top scorer was Sheri Boulding with 16. Jaime Brown had 12.
Cal State Long Beach 109, San Diego State 73--Penny Toler scored 28 points as fifth-ranked Long Beach (25-2, 15-1) clinched the Pacific Coast Athletic Assn. women’s basketball title with a victory over San Diego State (10-15, 7-9) at University Gym.
Cindy Brown had 26 points and 11 rebounds for Long Beach, and sophomore Shameil Coleman tied her career high with 21 points.
