Aqueduct Bikeway

Last April 20 your section carried an article about the California Aqueduct Bikeway by Anne Z. Cooke and Steve Haggerty. I spoke to an employee at the Southern District office and learned that the bikeway is under threat of being entirely closed to cyclists. Only a portion is open, 16 miles west of Interstate 15 at Victorville, and that will be closed on April 1 for “construction.”
The employee said that after the construction, about midsummer, the whole bikeway system will be reevaluated for public use. It seems that there have been lawsuits against the Department of Water Resources.
