Machinists to Consider Rohr’s New, Improved Offer
- Share via
Rohr Industries and the machinists union leaders said Tuesday night that an improved company offer was to be presented to the union membership for a ratification vote.
Union officials will probably schedule the vote for today or Thursday, Rohr public relations manager Dick Dalton said.
Included in the new offer are significant increases in the pension plan and the continuation of cost-of-living adjustments.
If the company offer is accepted, all employees would return to work immediately, Dalton said.
About 4,500 workers from Locals 755 and 964 of the International Assn. of Machinists and Aerospace Workers at Rohr plants in Chula Vista and Riverside began their strike Feb. 16. They struck in a dispute over pay, health benefits and a company retirement plan.
Union and company officials had been negotiating since November.
