Soviet Maneuvers Reported

TOKYO — Soviet air force units based in the Far East staged large-scale maneuvers north of Japan last week, the mass-circulation Sankei Shimbun reported Tuesday. The newspaper said an unspecified number of planes and navy vessels took part in the weeklong exercises held near Sakhalin, the Kurile Islands and the Kamchatka Peninsula.
