Rainout Spoils Northridge’s Bid for Sweep at ASU

TEMPE, Ariz. — Arizona State has lost so few series at Packard Stadium that there is a segment in the team’s baseball media guide dealing exclusively with the last time the Sun Devils did.
Cal State Northridge beat the Sun Devils, 3-2, Monday, and with a victory Tuesday could have made a case for a new entry in the media guide.
But the weatherman intervened; the second game of the series was rained out, and the Matadors will have to try again next year.
Northridge (8-4), winner of five in a row, returned home Tuesday night and is scheduled to play host to Cal Lutheran on Thursday.
Arizona State (8-7), ranked 22nd in Division I, will open a three-game series at USC on Friday.
