CSLB’s Wiley Is Suspended for Next Season

Morlon Wiley, a junior guard and leading scorer on the Cal State Long Beach basketball team, has been suspended from the team for next season for allegedly threatening to fight an assistant coach.
Wiley was dismissed from the team before Saturday night’s game at Cal State Fullerton.
“He violated a rule you just don’t violate,” 49er Coach Ron Palmer said Sunday. “You don’t threaten a coach.”
Palmer said Wiley confronted assistant coach Bruce Buhrandt in the dressing room following the 49ers’ 74-54 loss at UC Santa Barbara Thursday night. Palmer did not witness the incident.
Palmer, who coached Wiley at Long Beach Poly High School, said, “I talked to Morlon (Saturday) and he said he didn’t remember what he said (to Buhrandt).”
