Gambian President Wins Election to Fourth Term

BANJUL, Gambia — Sir Dawda Jawara, who has led Gambia since British colonial rule ended in 1965, was elected president for the fourth time by a wide majority, the government announced.
The Interior Ministry said last week that Jawara received more than 61% of the vote.
