Improving gross margin rates from its medical supply unit and a tightening of general and administrative expense produced slightly higher operating income on 10% lower revenue in the second quarter and six months for Orange, Calif.-based Bergen Brunswig Corp., a spokesman said. Net profit, fully diluted, were down in both periods.
