Enthroned : At 2, He’s the Littlest Lama
DHARMSALA, India — The world’s youngest Buddhist lama, a 2-year-old Spanish boy, grinned, yelled and chewed candy today as he was enthroned and venerated as the reincarnation of a dead Tibetan lama.
Osel Hita, from Granada, Spain, wore the maroon robes and pointed yellow hat of a Tibetan lama as he was carried to his throne sucking a plastic toy.
Osel, whose name means “clear light” in Tibetan, is the fifth child of Paco and Maria Hita, who run a Buddhist center near Granada.
He has been recognized as the reincarnation of their teacher, Thubten Yeshe Rimpoche, who died three years ago in California.
