POPPING BACK : FANS FUME, OTHERS CHEER BRUCE BLAST

In the Popping Off column in the March 15 Calendar, Kristine McKenna aired her negative views on the Bruce Springsteen phenomenon. Here’s a sample of the heavy reader response, which ran roughly 60% to 40% against McKenna’s opinion.

You guys are pretty darn clever.

After reading McKenna’s opinion of Springsteen I, like hundreds of other outraged Bruce fans, sat down to write a scathing rebuttal telling Kristine just exactly what we thought of her.

Then I got it. Of course--it was a joke! A respected newspaper like the Los Angeles Times would never hire someone so obviously incompetent, banal and uninformed as Kristine appeared to be. She was teasing us!

Good work, Kristine--I’ll bet a few bozos out there actually took your writing seriously.
