San Marino : City Asked to Aid Schools

The Board of Education has asked the City Council to pay a larger share of maintenance costs for school recreational facilities to help the financially strapped school district. At their first joint meeting last week, school board and council members agreed that while most of the city’s recreational program uses school athletic fields and other facilities, the school district pays most of the estimated $100,000 annual maintenance costs.
The council said it will investigate applying for state and federal grants to pay for improvements to some jointly used facilities.
