Mike Bell, defensive end for the Kansas City Chiefs before his arrest on federal drug charges in November of 1985, has been reinstated by the NFL, the club said.
“Mike Bell of the Kansas City Chiefs has been notified that his application for reinstatement as an active NFL player has been granted,” the NFL said in a statement.
Bell must contribute $10,000 to a drug-abuse treatment facility in Kansas and avoid further drug-related misconduct.
His brother, Mark Bell, a free agent, also was cleared to play.
