Hawaiian Gardens — The California Transportation Commission has allocated $4.5 million for a sound-wall project along both sides of the San Gabriel River Freeway (I-605), in Hawaiian Gardens, Lakewood and Long Beach.
The sound walls will stretch for 2.6 miles and will provide continuity to Cerritos’ sound-wall program. The project will also widen the Northbound Carson Street on-ramp to the freeway and provide a new lane at the southbound Del Amo Boulevard on-ramp.
Work is scheduled to begin in August, with completion estimated in August, 1988. The project is part of Caltrans’ noise-attenuation program to reduce freeway-generated noise in adjacent residiential areas.
