Orange County College Roundup : Clark Leads Fullerton Women to 6-0 Win Over Long Beach

Senior Connie Clark (22-0) struck out six and scattered six hits as the Cal State Fullerton women’s softball team defeated Cal State Long Beach, 6-0, Wednesday in the first game of a Pacific Coast Athletic Assn. doubleheader at Mayfair Park.
The second game was called because of time limitations after 12 innings, with Fullerton ahead, 4-3. The game will be finished at a later date.
The Titans (16-0, 39-2) have 31 straight victories. Missy Coombes had two singles and drove in two runs. Chenita Rogers also had two singles.
Fullerton was leading, 1-0, going into the seventh when Long Beach’s Sandy Winchester (11-5) walked in two runs.
Long Beach is 12-11, 19-11.
In California Collegiate Athletic Assn. baseball:
Chapman 4, UC Riverside 3--Darren Nelson hit two home runs in the Panthers’ come-from-behind victory at Hart Park in Orange.
The Highlanders took a 1-0 lead on John Sellick’s home run in the fourth, but the Panthers (8-6, 20-19) tied the score as Nelson extended his hitting streak to 21 games with a home run. Riverside (2-9, 19-14) took a 3-2 lead when Marc Young hit a two-run home run off Jim Bennett in the seventh, but Nelson and Brent Ryhlick hit back-to-back homers in the eighth for the victory.
Freshman David Bird (4-3) threw 2 shutout innings. Highlander starter Royal Clayton allowed eight hits in 7 innings.
United States International University 10, Southern California College 4--Ron Sargent’s single drove in two runs and Opie Moran doubled in another, keying a six-run sixth inning for USIU at Costa Mesa.
