Veteran rocker Roy Orbison went into a Los Angeles studio Monday to record a new version of “In Dreams,” his 24-year-old hit that was given new life last year when Dean Stockwell lip-synched the song during the nightmarish party scene in “Blue Velvet.” Orbison--a recent Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee--was backed by an orchestra in an attempt to re-create the lush sound of the original recording, which hit the Top 10 in 1963. Co-producing the record are singer/producer T-Bone Burnett and a newcomer to the record industry: “Blue Velvet” director David Lynch.
