A young man’s fancy turns to thoughts of love but at this time of year, it’s move over, Cupid, as CBS comes courting with the NBA playoffs.
CBS goes to a full-court press for its coverage of pro basketball’s postseason play. Each of the playoff series featured this weekend will be a best-of-five set.
In today’s telecast at 12:30 p.m., the Lakers and Denver Nuggets will take the court at the Forum in Game 2 of a Western Conference series on Channels 2 and 8.
On Sunday, the same stations will carry the Boston Celtics-Chicago Bulls game at 10 a.m., followed by the Philadelphia 76ers vs. Milwaukee Bucks at 12:30 p.m.
On the baseball front, KTLA will catch the California Angels vs. Minnesota Twins in a pair of games at the Metrodome. The teams will square off today at 5 p.m. and Sunday at 11 a.m. (5).
Earlier today on NBC’s Game of the Week, the streaking New York Yankees and Cleveland Indians go to bat at 10:15 a.m. (4)(36)(39).
NBC also will cover final-round play in the annual Legends of Golf tourney today and Sunday at 1 p.m.
Meanwhile, ABC will have its cameras focused on the Houston Open golf tournament. It will get under way today and Sunday at 10:30 a.m. (7)(3)(10)(42).
In the midst of all this comes a John Madden report on the National Football League draft. The half-hour program airs today at noon (2)(8).
