17.4 Million Visitors Spent $2.5 Billion in N.Y. in 1986

NEW YORK — The city was host to 17.4 million visitors who spent more than $2.5 billion here during 1986, the Convention and Visitors Bureau reported Tuesday. All statistical indicators for tourism increased in 1986 compared to 1985, and early figures this year are better than last year, bureau Chairman Allan R. Johnson said.
