A dog owned by actress Heather Locklear was killed Thursday night at her Woodland Hills home by someone who apparently waited for the entertainer to leave, shot the animal in the backyard and then dragged it onto a nearby hillside, Los Angeles police said.
A friend found the Maltese, one of three dogs owned by the “Dynasty” star, about 100 yards behind Locklear’s property on Westchester Drive south of Ventura Boulevard, Detective Tim Yost said.
The dog had been shot twice, possibly with a .22-caliber weapon, after Locklear left her home about 9 p.m., Yost said. The dog was found shortly after Locklear discovered it missing when she returned home about 11:30 p.m., Yost said.
The city Department of Animal Regulation will investigate, Yost said.
“There are no witnesses and no evidence of any kind at this time that would link anybody to the shooting,” said Lt. Tim Goffa of the animal regulation department. “Right now it looks kind of bleak.”
