When the President of the United States is sworn into office he takes the following oath: “I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States.”
Webster’s dictionary defines the word execute as (1) to carry out, (2) to put to death.
I wonder which of these definitions the current occupant of the White House thinks he is carrying out?
