State Fish and Game Department Director Jack C. Parnell was nominated by Gov. George Deukmejian as director of the Food and Agriculture Department. Parnell, 52, of Auburn will replace Clare Berryhill of Ceres, who retired. The nomination to the $87,552-a-year post requires Senate confirmation. Parnell is a former deputy director of the Food and Agriculture Department.
