Brooke Shields Adds ‘Princeton Grad’ to Her List of Credits

PRINCETON, N.J. — Brooke Shields, escorted by a bodyguard, led Princeton University’s class of 1987 in the commencement procession today past photographers and camera crews from as far away as Japan and graduated with honors.
“I did it!” Shields told reporters as she held her diploma aloft.
After Shields and her 1,104 classmates received their diplomas, she held her first news conference since starting at Princeton.
Her mother, Teri Shields, sat a few feet away throughout the conference.
“I’ve proven something to myself,” Shields, 22, said. “I didn’t expect to get honors but I worked as hard as I could from Day One.” She majored in romance languages with an emphasis on French.
Socially, Shields spent the first semester breaking the ice.
“It was difficult at first,” she said. “It was difficult for me because I didn’t know anyone, and everyone knew me.”
