Nicaraguan rebels said they killed or wounded 192 Sandinista troops in recent days and blocked two roads deep inside the country. The U.S.-backed Nicaraguan Resistance, the main contra organization based in Honduras, said in a statement that most of the casualties were inflicted in central Nicaragua in recent fighting. A Nicaraguan military chief said earlier in Managua that Sandinista troops killed 92 contras and captured extensive supplies in a two-week offensive.
