Singers Lou Rawls and Natalie Cole will appear July 26 as part of the new “Celebrity Theatre” pop concert series at Freedman Forum in Anaheim, theater officials said Friday.
The theater’s new operating group, California Celebrity Theatre Inc., also plans to add 200 seats to the existing 2,300-seat in-the-round facility, said James Woodin, the theater’s managing director.
The 10-concert pop series begins July 3 with the System and Club Nouveau and a summer “rap” music festival to follow on July 4. Also scheduled is a five-night run in November of the touring stage revue, “Sophisticated Ladies.”
The Freedman Forum, built next to Anaheim City Hall, has been dark since Feb. 8, when the theater’s production of the musical “42nd Street” ended a 27-day run.
