Son ‘Disgusted’ by Court Decision

BALTIMORE — A man whose parents were stabbed to death said he was “thoroughly disgusted” by Monday’s U.S. Supreme Court ruling that overturned the death sentence of the man convicted of murdering them.
Barry Bronstein found his parents’ bodies in their Baltimore home on May 18, 1983. His sister, Phyllis Bricker, said: “The Supreme Court has decided that the jury should not know how surviving victims’ lives are affected by the brutal crimes committed against their loved ones.
“The defendants and their families can tell the jury how the sentence would affect them. The victims and their families must remain silent.”
The 5-4 ruling struck down the death sentence for John Marvin Booth, who was convicted by a Baltimore Circuit Court jury of killing Irvin Bronstein, 78, and his wife, Rose, 75. Each had been bound, and stabbed 12 times.
Bill Bricker, Phyllis Bricker’s husband, said the family was devastated by Monday’s decision.
