--The Lakers finished the regular season with a 65-17 record, the first time since 1976-77 that they have had the best record in the National Basketball Assn. It was also the sixth-best record in league history.
--The Lakers finished the playoffs with a 15-3 record, and were 10-0 at the Forum. They won the NBA title for the fourth time in eight seasons, and for the third time in the last six.
--Magic Johnson was voted the Most Valuable Player of the regular season and MVP of the playoffs.
--Michael Cooper was voted defensive player of the year.
--Byron Scott set club records in three-point field goal and free-throw percentage.
--Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Johnson and James Worthy were all named to the All-Star team.
--Three Lakers appeared in all 100 games, regular season and playoff, that the Lakers played this season: Cooper, Scott and Worthy.
