Parliament Speaker Hussein Husseini, Lebanon’s top Shia Muslim official, said he has reversed his decision to resign from his post. “I resumed my duties after members of Parliament unanimously rejected my decision to resign,” he said. Husseini, 50, an ally of Syria, quit June 5, saying then that he would not change his mind unless the circumstances of Premier Rashid Karami’s assassination were revealed. Karami, a Sunni Muslim, was killed by a bomb planted on an army helicopter June 1, and the killers have not yet been identified.
